This first episode was done in June 2003 in Colima, Mexico.
Materials used were plain typing paper, a 0.7 mm gel pen for the art and bold letters, a 0.5 gel pen for most other lettering, and a black felt-tip marker for deep shadows.
All pens and markers were tested before use by writing on a sheet of paper, then submerging it under water in the sink for an hour. I wasn't taking chances, with the tropical rainy season on the way.
I chose simple art supplies deliberately, so I could maintain the comic's "look" with pens I could find at any neighborhood store.
Sgt. Eddi is not my friend Eddie Monoghan of My Goodness Irish Pub in Amiens, France; I never once saw Eddie wear a hat.
