Mickey Spillane passed away today. He has had a special place in my heart since I was 10 or 11 years old. I had started my first novel (coincidentally starring the name-sake of a "Sea Bride" character), written detective-style, and when I showed the first three pages with their two murders to my mother, she recoiled saying "Good Lord, Walt, this is as gory as something by Mickey Spillane!"
I knew right then I would like this man.
Last I checked, fedoras were coming back into style, which is as it should be.
Here's to you, Mickey.
I took a look at the first part of Monterrey Moon. It's well done. Makes me want to read more...
