This episode was done in 2008 in Birmingham. It was written early in the year, and finished in November at the urging of house guest Ray Weisfeld.
Hey, I just discovered you online a few days ago. Over the last few nights, I've read all of The Sea Bride, parts 1 - 18, and I love it! The world you create, the characters in it, and their crazy huge eyes - it's all great. And the story just keeps on surprising me.
Nikko started as a scholar with a bad leg. I got the idea that maybe he didn't really need the cane so much, and that his mother just raised him to think he did. And now, since he's been in a few fights and learned to throw rocks and sword fight, he's started to act like a bad-ass, and we don't see the cane so much anymore. I figure some day he'll be an aristocrat who carries a cane, but concealed inside the cane is a rapier.
It's fun for him to take these dark and violent turns, but I hope he continues to quote from dusty tomes, and I hope he can keep some level of naivete. I can't wait to find out what happens in future installments, and hopefully someday you'll reveal the meaning behind the title.

Thanks for doing all that hard work,
